| Thanks for the baby name ideas! We are taking every name we hear and adding it to a list. James has moved his full time job to the other side of my office so now we work in the same space all day. His assistant just laughs at us because whenever either of us see a new name come up we ask back and forth "what about ..." or "do you like..." One of our problems is that we have so many close relatives that most of the names we actually like (such as Andrew ) are already taken either by a cousin or their child. We've been through the geneology lists in the Bible at least twice but coming from a family with a long Christian heritage...yup you guessed it...all the nice ones are used! Such a pickle. But like a friend recently told me..."I've never met a person without a name...you'll come up with something!" | |

Enjoy! thanks, I bookmarked the site to read. Iv never been to NYC really, well I'v been in the far distant past, but not really. How far is the airport from the hotel? Are there shuttle busses or do folks take a taxi? Can you walk to Wall Street from the hotel or do you need to take a bus? Is there anything there to see? Is there another thread where folks are talking about this cruise someone can point me to? What is there within walking distance of the hotel? PS Nina, my mom's name is Nila, Nila Jean, she now goes by Jean though, so maybe thats too unusual of a name ... or too close to your name.

| Hi Nina, I sent in my booking form - and received invoice. Guess I'm really new at this and didn't fully understand the process. I would like to wait until Jan. to secure my cabin - and we are planning on upgrading to a balcony cabin then - in Jan 2009. Please do not process the booking at this time. (my husband was having a hissy-fit yesterday!) LOL Thanks so much for understanding my "newbie" confusion!! | |

| Well so much for Spamalot but, I'm sure we'll all agree on something fun. I voted for Momma Mia but, really anything is fine. |

| Would someone please explain to me what a in-hull balcony is? I have been on cruises where the lifeboats do make the view difficult how much is this affected in a B3 cabin? Will there be a view of the ocean at all or will it just allow for an outside space? Thank you | |

From what I understand from "beyondships" is - an in-hull balcony is an enclosed balcony, with a large open window area. Looks like it would be nice and sheltered from the wind - and rain if there is any. :-) Check out the link from beyondships (earlier on this thread) and there are great photos of the QM2 and many ship details. This will be my first time on anything but NCL, so I was really excited to see this link! Thanks, Beyondships!!

| If you're considering one of the obstructed cabins - it can range from very obstructed to only slightly. If you use your balcony just for fresh air and don't care if you really have a view, it's often the best value on the ship!

| Here is the picture of the in hull balcony Nick posted on the Christmas thread. Basically, they are in the hull, below the promenade deck. And I think the only real issue with them, is that you can't see out when you are sitting in the chair. Other than that, it looks good. | |

| So it looks like the Christmas sailing is shaping up nicely.
What fun things are we planning for this cruise??
Has anyone been on a 4th of July cruise before?

Has anyone been on a 4th of July cruise before? Jen, I've done 4th of July and, it's a different crowd than the typical Cunard sailing. Lots of first timers, not that it's a bad thing - just makes it different. So far our special events include:
- Dinner at Todd English
- A special viewing area on the ship during the fireworks in Boston Harbor with cocktail service (this is just for us, this is not something everyone will be getting)
- And, I know Nina and Tina are arranging a few special on-board activities - I believe a private cooking demonstration for our group is one of things
- And I also know they're planning on private shore tours for those who wish to take advantage of them
It's going to be a lot of fun - especially with this group! |
