Radiance 9-14-07 Polar Bear Express "Special"!

Thinking of food (thanks Ginny for mentioning dinner).....I don't thnk I've ever shared something my dr told me about cruising.......

He said if you want to avoid norov.....don't eat 'cold' foods, especially the salads...that burst my bubble cuz I LOV salads but I stick by it......I try hard to eat only the 'hot' prepared foods and also not use handrails if at all possible......

Anyone have any other secrets to staying healthy and not getting direly ill like CCC??????????.......LOl

Are you all using cc to pay hotel bill or do you use cash. I have never paid for something outside the country. Well Mexico I used cc. Had do you know what the real rate is if it is listed in Canada dollors? My reservation says Canada for the amount.

We use only CC.......I take some cash but not much....we charge everything and anything...cab ride included........

Didn't know you could charge cab ride. Wow I have cruised many times but know so little. Hmmmm I did inquire about the extra charges on my cc for using outside of the country. Some are as high as 3% found one I have that is 1%.

I take a box of the single anti-bacterial wipes and always have a few in my purse/camera bag/etc. After we go thru the buffet and are at the table we re-wipe our hands and I also wipe off the salt and pepper shakers at the table. Ray used to think I was neurotic about it, but there was an outbreak on the Horizon when we were on it and neither of us got sick.

I also wipe off the seat belt buckle, drop down table and arms on the airplane! I don't make a big deal of it, but I do it!

I "try" to avoid using the public bathroom and use the one in our cabin most, but I don't make a special trip back to the cabin. But if I know heading to the cabin shortly, I wait!

I don't know if any of it helps, but mentally I feel I've done everything I can to avoid it.

There is a nice black and white beaded top at Dress Barn in my size that I would like to buy and bring which would give me two beaded tops but I felt nice pretty in it.

Think I will call them and ask them to put in on hold for me.

OK, I almost finished my packing before the interview and I want to go back and finish it tonight! Can I get anyone another drink before I sign off for a while???

Good call Susan I try not to touch stair rails and use knuckle to push buttons in elevator. Then I try and remember not to use knuckle to rub my eyes.

Have not gotten sick (opps one time) on cruise other then seasick

However I have had a couple accidents and was treated in sick bay. It was due to stateroom not have door stop rubber thingie in place and of course I hit it with my big toe. OUCH!!!!!!!! Trying to remember the other thing....... I fell getting off the ship on the last day going down a steep ramp instead of using stairs. I was taking my carryon bag w/ roller and landed on my backside. it was a long bus ride to Anchorage and flight home with a very sore tail bone. No one came to help me up but I did not sue RCCL.

I also bring wipes with me to wipe down telephone and desk top in cabin, etc. I sometimes think I am parnoid.

I think I'm getting more paranoid the older I get.....

My gs got sick on Rhap....he was running 105. fever on departure day.......it was CRAZY.....he ended up with what was called pneumonia....

After that is when I decided to be more aggressive!!

Hadn't thought about wiping down salt and pepper shakers though I have used napkin to hold them. Think I will stick some in my purse for that reason as well. Same for airline, really smart idea. Thank you for mentioning it.

Okey dokey, here you go Jul. I put an extra shot of Tequila in it and extra whipped cream! I might not be back for a while and didn't want you to do without!

That would scare me for sure. So many people will come despite being ill and figure hey no problem. But it can be a huge one.

Where did that email come from with the list of gifts? They sound really nice, of course anything that RCI gives us is appreciated. Sounds like nothing is too large and will be packable.

Don't forget to call your CC companies before you leave. Let them know that you will be out of your spending zone, as they like to call it, so that all those precious little treasures that you have to have will not be denied when you use your CC to pay for them.
