| Good morning all-- not sure I told you we stayed in Des Moines for the state wrestling tournament. My brother coaches and his son is one of the wrestlers. Two of my other brothers and a sister are here with us to cheer on the family. We are heading into the finals tonight in the lead and our nephew is going for State champ--fun times and great tocatch up with family. More later-- | |

| Kathy we are on the Majesty but I think the deck plans are similar. I switched to 8536, so I guess I got a good deal!
It's snowing snowing snowing here AGAIN! It is kind of pretty today though.
I'm fighting a cold that I probably picked up on the plane home. I can't remember a flight with more sneezing and coughing than the one I was on last Sunday! But I have no where I have to go so will just cuddle up on the couch and continue to catch up on all the shows that were taped while I was gone!

| Good Morning... Noticed the thread about Soldiers' Angels project. Coincidentally yesterday a patient noticed the picture of my grandson and asked me if I knew about SA. She gave me their card and I checked out the site www.soldiersangels.org last night. Fortunately, Blake DOES have a lot of support from family and friends, but too many soldiers do not. We're aiming for the end of March to get him home from Afghanistan. Julie - Glad you made it to the ice show. Front row??? Susan - Stay warm and beat the bug before it gets you down. | |

| Kathy or Susan (or anyone) - can you please explain the "better cabins" on Majesty/Monarch.
Right now we are on Deck 6 - couldn't get any higher (and Deck 7 is obstructed view). So what do you mean when you say (and show) better cabins on Majesty. What category are they? I will have to keep an eye out for them
Thanks! |

Thanks! Michele, the better cabins that are marked are between the lifeboats, so the obstruction does not block the view. And the deck 8 cabins are the cheapest ov's even cheaper than deck two with a port hole. This is 8560 on Monarch---- But Kathy is right, the cabins right next to the elevators are the least obstructed, virtually nothing there, just a big overhang. If you do a deck 7 cabin, try to get a cabin near one of the doors that leads out to the promenade. Jean picked this cabin out for me, when I went with her and Ginny last summer. It was great to just be able to turn the corner and go outside and sit right under my window. Ginny had the cabin right next door to mine.

They are Category I on deck 8...The SO cabins on deck 9 are unobstructed, 157 sf as opposed to 122 on deck 8...We have stayed on both decks and have gotten deck 9 for less than deck 8 at times...

| Thanks Jen!
Ok, so I looked and since I have 3 people in the cabin (me and the girls), not one of those "good cabins" are available. If I went to Deck 8 obstucted, it would actually save me $100. And I would be 3 decks up...which is always good. But the view would be really obstructed.
And on Deck 7, I could have my own "balcony" by staying near an exit without having my own balcony...which is cool. But the jogging track...is that a pain?
Last question, (yes I feel like a cruise newbie because I didn't pay attention at all to the cabins I was staying in on Sov)...if I take a cabin that is a quad (had the code that there are two uppers and not just one) - is there any benefit to that at all? We only need one upper. |

And thanks Jill! I guess those couches in the Deck 9 cabins don't open up to make a bed????? There are many Deck 9 cabins open, none sleep 3. I wonder if I call if they will let me upgrade because my 4 year old would easily fit on that couch. |

| I don't think there is any benefit, the room will actually look smaller, because the uppers are hanging on the sides of the wall. At least on Monarch, they were. (The don't go up in the ceiling like the new ships).
If you do decide to go up to an obstructed on deck 8 that is not between the lifeboats, you will still be able to see a bit under the lifeboats, and look down onto the promenade.
The little sofa on deck 9 cabins, are actually a little corner loveseat thing. But those cabins are bigger and have a frig and safe also.

I don't think either of those sleep 3, Jill, but maybe I'm wrong. I didn't check to see... Neither sleep 3. So Jen, it's not a couch then, just that oversized chair (we had one in our Indy cabin)? This is so frustrating. There are soooo many cabins open on Deck 9. None of them sleep 3. |

| Michelle, my inlaws had a SO on the Monarch. The "extra" seating is kind of a loveseat/oversized chair. It is almost triangle shaped is is made to fit in the corner. I do not think anyone, even a small child could sleep on it. | |

Thanks. Then I guess I stay on Deck 6. Or take an obstructed cabin and save $100 on Deck 8. |

| For $100, I think I would just stay on deck 6 Michele. You may hear people running above you on the promenade, but it was slight and not bothersome, when we stayed on 6. | |
