EOS - 2010 Christmas Cruisers - How Many Nights Pre-Cruise

I realize that no one can really commit to any polls or anything until we see actual schedules. Additionally, since there was a poll explaining that you'll need to figure around $250 - $300 per night for a decent Manhattan hotel, this poll is purely to see how many nights everyone is willing to do. There is no point in trying organize activities until we know how many nights in Manhattan the majority plan to stay.

*Note - as already explained and debated, we know staying in NJ is much cheaper, however, the majority who are active on the threads stated they want the Manhattan experience and that includes staying in a Manhattan hotel. So please don't use this thread to whine it's too expensive.

I just tried something. There is a site I use faithfully http://www.nycvp.com when we visit New York and just for fun I plugged in December 18 2008 and this is what I got for a package for 2 nights:

For a family of 4 the cost would be $2515.00 for 2 nights and it includes:

- 2 nights at Crown Plaza Hotel (1 room)
- 4 Tickets to Radio City Christmas Show
- 4 Tickets for the Holiday Lights Tour
- Dinner for 4 at Planet Hollywood
- Dinner for 4 at The View Restaurant
- Trip insurance for the land package

The same package for a couple (2 people) for 2 nights would be $1669.00:
- 2 nights at Crown Plaza Hotel (1 room)
- 2 Tickets to Radio City Christmas Show
- 2 Tickets for the Holiday Lights Tour
- Dinner for 2 at Planet Hollywood
- Dinner for 2 at The View Restaurant
- Trip insurance for the land package

See how different everyone is - with two years to plan and save, I know I can afford this easily even with the cruise. I vote for 2 nights!

Remembering you are in Manhattan, during the holidays, with show tickets, sightseeing and two dinners factored in. I think the pricing is good! 2 night vote for me as well.

Christmas on Explorer - interesting proposal, interested for sure but too far out to really commit

Two nights seem to be the favorite so far but, we have a long way to go and lots more opinions and ideas to collect. Still think this is a GREAT idea!

Two nights would be great - one night to settle in and one full day/evening for sightseeing and events

This is hard to say without having any real, solid dates yet. Ideally, if the cruise was leaving on a Sunday, I could commit to two nights prior which would be Friday and Saturday. However, if the cruise on a Saturday, then I could only commit to one night pre-cruise. So I put two for now but, it's a wait and see situation.
