| Go with an open mind Pete, reviews are hit and miss on the hotel. The tours are great as is the museum.
I think Princess leaves from San Pedro though, doesn't it? It's about a 10-15 minute drive from Long Beach. | |

| Actually we are going on the Golden Princess, not the Pacific Princess. JJ I have heard and read the mixed reviews.... the consensus seems to be that is it is "the world's worst hotel on the world's greatest liner". I guess we are wondering just how bad is the "worst hotel" part of it. | |

| Ginny, I haven't stayed there just toured it, probably read the same reviews as you have. Just remember the age of the ship and go for the nostalgia of it. | |

| I love old marine architecture so seeing the ship will be enough. The fact we are staying overnight is a bonus. We shall dine onboard if it is possible. We will post a review as soon as we return. I love museum ships and having the Mary around makes me wish the Olympic or Mauretania had been saved. Speaking of liner history we are spending almost a Trillion or so dollars on the economy couldn't some of that money be used to refurbish the SS United States? | |

| There are several restaurants on board. Here is the link to them: http://www.queenmary.com/index.php?page=diningWe just ate at the Promenade cafe, which was fine. Sir Winston's is supposed to be very good though. If you have more than one night, I would also go over to Parker's Lighthouse in Shoreline village, great views of the Queen Mary and really great food. The top of the lighthouse is more casual, and you don't need reservations. Also over in San Pedro next to the cruise terminal is the Lane Victory which you can tour, and also a Maritime museum on the other side of the terminal in Ports O'call village. http://www.lanevictory.org/tours.htm | |
