Thanks Shelia!

For those who may be joining just for the cruise and flying over to London, would you want a pre-cruise stay? Most likely it would be unescorted as the assigned TA would be on the full trip. (Although, considering my husband will probably be joining us in London he might be willing to step up to the plate for an on the ground contact, he's gotten pretty good at it!)

I like to suggest Brown's Hotel http://www.brownshotel.com/

It's one of my favorite hotels in London.

Bump! ThreadBump How many more weeks do I need to bump before pricing comes out? Wink Just kidding, I am so excited about your double transit with Europe in the middle sailing! Can't wait!

Nina, tell me since I've never done this and may never be able to afford to do a transit plus cruise. How does it work exactly? Let's say you all board in New York and when Cunard pulls into Southampton do you have to get off and then check back in or how does it work?

Hi Shelia, glad that you are still so excited! I think it will be a fun cruise!
To answer your question, it is handled just like a back-to-back cruise and the passengers who are continuing on do not have to check back in although, they are free to leave the ship and explore for the day if they wish. The stateroom also stays the same.

Thanks for the weekly bump Shelia. It has been quiet around here on the weekends. I think most people are so grateful for some warm sunny weather after our abnormally hard, COLD, dark, LOOONNNGG, (did I mention cold?) winter (yeah, it was that bad) that now they just want to be outside every moment they are not working.

Say, I've been meaning to ask you, what area of Germany are you in? Is it pretty? My sister is talking about taking a river cruise through Germany. Either that or a tour through Ireland. If she plans it for early enough in the fall I might get to tag along Very Happy Anything you would recommend for Germany?

Oh I think we're all interested Shelia, it's just that Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas has stolen the spotlight from us for a while now. However, once that is done, all attention will be back on Cunard, where it belongs!

Hi all,

Admin Tina contacting me about giving this sailing a boost since you only have a few people on the opt-in list. So, instead of just a plug on the Genesis site, I am starting a whole new blog dedicated to this double transit event you guys are planning. Here's the blog: http://cunarddoubletransit2010.blogspot.com/

Once Oasis settles down, I'll devote more time but, in the meantime, I will post something no less than 2 a week to help develop a following. I have placed a subscription box to opt-in to the mailing list right on top. Hopefully that encourages people to sign up!

Nina, I'll be in touch sometime this week and we'll do an "interview" - I'll send you questions and you can answer them and that will help answer questions regarding this sailing. And, it's a nice place to start!

Today's entry is very short, just an introduction about what to expect.

Thanks Nina, good to be back online! It was a "interesting" Spring for me, I lost 22 pounds so far, feeling great. Had my laptop fry on me, just got a new one and getting all my stuff reloaded has taken forever.

And, now just getting ready to book for 2009.

Christina is doing well, she's been a rock for her Mom. I think she'll be coming back online with us in the next few weeks or so. I think the real truama was the doctors telling her and her Mom that her Dad would be fine, and, then have him pass away. I was shocked when I got the call, I can only imagine the range of emotions they went through.

I've been lucky so far and still have both parents but, I know one day that call is coming and it's not a call I want!

Anyhow, yes, it's great to be back! I know summer is a bit slower on the boards but, I still have tons of catching up to do.

I just read the new blog Ajani, excellent job! Now, if you're having a culinary theme, count me in! I'll happily book an inside cabin for this type of an experience. If no one else has suggested it yet, I like to toss 21 Club in NY into the ring. It's very worthwhile and gets great reviews not just from clients but from critics. Check out the reviews: http://www.21club.com/web/onyc/onyc_c1f_reviews.jsp

I second the 21 Club suggestion, it would be a great way to kick off a culinary themed cruise!

Doubt I'd be able to do the full double transit but, will certainly keep it in mind for the Europe segment!

Looks like a big stir is going on at the Royal Caribbean threads about no group space for the Oasis Inaugural. So glad I'm not going on it, sounds like it's going to be hard just to get a cabin.

Anyhow, I wanted to mention if we're going with a culinary theme that dinner at the Chef's Galley (QM2) might be good to include. That's where they chef cooks your dinner in front of you. Kind of a demonstration/dinner rolled into one.

If 08/09 are any indication of next year then yes, group space would be available on all three segments. Plus, since it wouldn't be peak season the group amenities are VERY attractive! (Prices are not bad either!)

For the 2009 Grand Med Delights 23 night cruise from NYC-NYC on QM2 total pricing is as follows:

D5- Inside $4956.00

C2 -Outside $5806.00

B5 - Balcony $5991.00

A2 - Prem. Balcony $8180.00

P2 - Grills $14,256.00

Q6 - Grills $19,196.00

So, really very good!

Per person pricing presumably?

Matthew, yes that pricing was per person double occupancy standard group rate.

Evan, I priced out the A2 as a single: $14250.00 as well as the D5 ($8432.00 )to give you a range. Keep in mind this is based on 2009 and should only be used as a very rough estimate of what is to come in 2010.

All things considered, including the length of a full segment double transit, that's not bad at all. Ok, I'm interested!
