| We hope to sail out of Bayonne, NJ next January and were wondering where most people stay pre-cruise. We plan to come in 2 days before so that we can be a NYC tourist. For others who have done this, have you stayed at a Manhattan hotel (reasonably priced as possible) or in NJ closer to the port?? As well, any suggestions for nice, clean hotels in either location?? Thanks. |

| i know there are hotels near newark airport that have free shuttle to the cruiseport and you can get mass transit into nyc i think so you can do the tourist thing. as far as hotels in nyc, marina or tina could probably help you out with that. |

As well, any suggestions for nice, clean hotels in either location?? Thanks. Livabeth, one of my personal secret weapons for booking hotels in New York is Priceline.com and yes it really does work. I've been able to get 4 star hotels at 2.5 star prices so that's one thought. However, if you don't like the chance factor (never knowing what you are purchasing until after it's bought), then here is my personal recommendation list for moderately priced hotels and I have actually stayed at these hotels: New York (Manhattan)Holiday Inn on West 57thhttp://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/nycup?rpb=hotel&crUrl=/h/d/hi/1/en/hotelsearchresults Radisson on Lexington Avenuehttp://www.lexingtonhotelnyc.com/I can recommend others but, they will be more expensive than the two above and, I haven't stayed in any hotels lower priced than these two. In New Jersey, the Hyatt in Jersey City is often a favorite because it's located directly across from Manhattan, the PATH station is right there (that's our version of a subway in NJ and it will take you right into Manhattan) but, I'm not sure if they offer shuttle service to the cruise port. http://jerseycity.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jspHopefully these give you a good starting point in making a decision. If you have more questions or want to ask about a specific hotel, just let me know! Tina | |
