I thought since I had so many questions about NYC, maybe there were some with questions about the Ft. Lauderdale area I could help answer. I lived in Boca for 13 years or so before I moved back to Texas.

If there is no set hotel, I might be able to give some ideas about hotels and the areas they are in, and attractions in the area. I had a friend come from Hawaii and we did a attraction every day, everything from finding a alligator farm where we could hold alligators (she said Florida is known for alligators, we HAD to see them). We took the Alligator Toll way to the first exit where the best airboat rides are. Its more natural than the airboats closer in the city. I LOVED the airboat ride and even though they are expensive for the time, it was so fun to skim across the swamp and see some alligators and other natural life there and we shopped in the Indian village and bought junks. There are water taxi's in the Ft. Lauderdale intercoastal area which you can take to dinner or a eating place.

We had to choose between the Jungle Queen and a cruise to nowhere. Im not sure the cruises to nowhere are still going. The Jungle Queen is still very reasonable. $40 for a sightseeing ride and dinner.

We did something different every day for 7 days. If someone has something else they wanted to do, I probably could tell them about that too. The weather will be perfect for the beach by Halloween, and wouldn't be as crowded as after Thanksgiving when season is taking off.

Actually, I have a question about the water taxi - is it within walking distance from Embassy Suites on 17th Street?

It would be walking distance for me. Stop #7 is the closest one to your hotel. You would walk toward the Intercoastal.

I haven't booked yet but, I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

We cannot get a commitment from Embassy this far out (they almost passed out when we talked to them about the inaugural 16 months out).

I will talk to them next summer about Halloween 2010 and see about a pre-cruise party location. As for rooms, we will offer rooms at Embassy, but if anyone wants has a preference for staying elsewhere, we will be more than happy to arrange that for them.

We're both still waiting for scheduling at work, hoping to be able to book!

I'm in the same boat, if you'll pardon the pun. I can't request October, 2010 until April, 2009...

If you decide to book before confirming your work schedule, and then find out later that you can't get the time off of work you can cancel and get a full refund of monies paid up until Aug 15, 2010.

Wake up everyone?? Where are the cruisers on Oasis?? Is this cruise really this dead that no one is posting?? There isnt even a roll call thread and the folks doing xmas 2010 are putting us to shame. Where is everyone that is going on this cruise?

I've been busy with getting people interested in Christmas 2010 - at least you have people booked on this sailing. Most people are still waking up to the fact that the Christmas 2010 sailing even exists and that once again Tina is putting together a fantastic pre-cruise package.

I'm working my butt off promoting this sailing at my hospital, however, no one can put in for vacation requests until after January 1st - Susan, you should expect a huge influx of doctors, nurses and hospital staff. They can't wait to book!

January 1st will be here before we know it!!! You always feel like you wait forever for the holidays to get here and then they never last long enough once you get there, the time flies by. Welcome one and all.

We're all booked!! Now we're just watching the time tick by until we cruise!! When it gets closer there will be a flurry of activity!!
