| Carnival Cruise Lines said today it will base its largest ship to date, the Carnival Dream, at Port Canaveral beginning in fall 2009. The 130,000-ton ship will accommodate 3,652 passengers, based on double occupancy, and will be the first in a new class of ship for Miami-based Carnival.
The ship is being built in Italy. Carnival said the ship’s itinerary will be disclosed at a later date.
Carnival did not say whether the Dream will replace one of its ships currently based at Port Canaveral.
Carnival operates the 2,974-passenger Glory on seven-night Caribbean cruises and the 2,052-passenger Sensation on three- and four-night Bahamas cruises out of Brevard County’s seaport. | |
