Hi there,

I'm in Ireland, if I'm interested in joining one of the Cruise Freek Forum group cruises, will there be any troubles trying to book it with you? I know some travel agents in the USA only handle US and Canadian residents.

That is a very interesting question. I don't have an answer but will try to get one for you. I think if it is a group cruise that can only be booked by the group leader it can work. Again, let me check with my boss. sunny

I don't think there's anything preventing us from booking non-US citizens. I booked an Australian citizen into my Alaska group back in June, no problems.

Of course, credit card charges would come through as U.S. dollars, so you might face conversiion fees by your credit card company.

I too have booked international passengers. I have one leaving Saturday for an Alaskan cruise. The problem seems to be more with agents from other countries rather than whether we can or can not book.

Patrick

My agency also books non-US citizens for cruises and other types of travel.

Here's another agent chiming in for the "it's not a problem usually".

Count me in, too - I've booked my London customer for 3 different cruises with no problem.

The only cruiseline that has not allowed me to book European customers is Cunard. For some reason they insist on have Europeans book through a European agent.

I have a customer from England that just finished a Costa cruise, so it is not that uncommon for Europeans to book via a US travel agency.

Steve, Cunard mid-level/low-level management will tell you "I don't think you're supposed to". However, there are easy ways around that through Polar. Upper management had no problems with it when I talked to the VP's about it.

Nina,

That's interesting. I was at a Princess/Cunard seminar last November and that exact question was asked, and the answer was that North American agents could only book North Americans.

I'll admit that I've never tried it in Polar, and this was not covered during Commodore training.

It is not widely known and you will not find the "how to" in the general or Commodore training but with experience you will pick it up. It's all rather complicated. Check your messages. Smile
