Yeah, which is why we tend to book land and cruise separately - more freedom to get the hotel and stateroom categories that you want, not being stuck with what DCL puts together. Wink

Susan, 100% correct, but many times, if a person is booking directly with Disney, they aren't going to offer those options. Just another plug for using a travel agent.

Getting in on this one a bit late but on the CCL Dream, the category 6D is the cabin that will accommodate 5 with twins (not convertible to a king), single sofa bed and 2 uppers.

I just met with my BDM and she feels a little differently on this. I get the impression that they really haven't been told one way or the other. My BDM says that every "mock" up she has seen has a queen(king), single sofa and two uppers.

Personally that makes sense as they are trying to sell it to families. Her advise is to wait and see. We should know something soon since it debuts in September.

I've tried to find things on their website and couldn't. I guess I'll contact my BDM and let her know.

look under FUN SHIPS / FUN SHIP FLEET, then click on the Carnival Dream. Then click on the deck plans, and find the Riviera deck. Scroll down a touch and on the left side, under the accommodations legend, you find the note about 6D and that the 2 twins don't convert to a king.

PostSubject: Quint cabins on the Carnival Dream   Grandchildren's Cruise - Page 3 Icon_minitimeThu Mar 12, 2009 9:28 am

Just had a meeting with my Carnival rep and saw a picture of the quint cabins on the CCL Dream

Picture an oceanview cabin walking in from the door.
On the left, you will have 1 twin bed. On the right, you will have the other twin bed.
Above the twin bed on the right is an upper berth (with the ladder coming down from the berth which is why the beds are not convertible to a queen).
Coming closer to the door, there is a single sleeper sofa on the right side of the cabin and above that is another upper berth.

The cabin is 230 square feet with a bath and 1/2.

They will only book these for 5 people. (You never know, though, if this will change at some point in the future.

This is really a great option for families!

Since there's only 20 of them on the ship, I think they'd wait until closer to sailing before letting them be sold at lesser capacity, but I definitely would see them selling them at lesser capacity right before sailing instead of having them sail empty.

I agree. These cabins will be great for families and are apt to be sold out way in advance.
They might sell them for 3 or 4, if they are vacant at the last minute rather than letting them sail empty, but I really don't foresee that happening while the ship is so new.

If and when there are more ships with similar cabins and prices, you never know but for now, if you want one of these, I would book very early.

I don't know about Carnival booking procedures, but there is a loophole to book Celebrity family cabins (with minimum 5 guests) for fewer than 5 people. Essentially, you BOOK them for 5, and then later on you alter the booking to cancel one of the passengers. This gets you down to 4, and they do not cancel the booking on you at this point.

Carnival may be susceptible to a similar loophole, but I don't know. Perhaps the TAs can shed light on this.

HelenB, I know you can do that with some other cruise lines but, recently, I had to change a triple cabin back to a double on the Carnival Fantasy when the 3rd person was removed from the reservation.

I think it might all depend on the reseravation agent.

But since there are other categories of cabins with the bath and 1/2, that are the same size and will accomodate 4 guests (and those beds will convert to king beds) would these cabins really be that desirable if you only have 3 or 4?
