Celebrity Constellation
Departure December 22, 2008
Christmas and New Year's Cruise
11 Night Ultimate Caribbean Cruise

Us:
Family of four including two grade school aged children

Air: EWR to FLL - via Continental Airlines. Smooth flight, no mentionable delays. No lost luggage, what more could we ask for - a good start to the trip!

Pre-cruise hotel: We booked the Marriott North, Fort Lauderdale for the night before the cruise. This was the first time we used this hotel and it was good and about 25 minutes from the cruise terminal. While the hotel itself is nice, unless pressed, I wouldn't book it again because it's easier to be closer to the cruise port.

Embarkation: This was very smooth as we had a Concierge Class cabin and therefore had priority embarkation cheers

Cabin: The CC cabins are spacious with lots of cupboards and drawers. There is a large shower but I would have preferred a bath with a shower. The balcony is big
enough for 2 but if there are 3 of you in the room (by using the sofa bed) then space would be tight. Next time, we get two cabins but, other than that we loved all the little extras that come with CC cabins. Our cabin attendant was invisible but, yet the room was always exceptionally clean. We didn't have any special requests so we just left the tip as is and were very satisfied with the service.

Dining: The buffet on Deck 10 for breakfast and lunch is good although the layout made it difficult to reach the food, especially for the little ones. We did go to the alternative dining room twice Ocean Liners dining experience and LOVED IT. We would have dined there every night if possible. Not that the main dining room was bad, far from it! :eat: The only that wasn't done to my liking was a steak I ordered and they corrected that in no time. We had an excellent wait team and gave them extra tips for being so attentive with our kids.

Entertainment: I LOVE the casino but it doesn't love me. And, my luck didn't change any during this sailing. So, we concentrated on the shows during the evenings. The quality of the shows were mixed. Sometimes great, sometimes not so good. We really enjoyed Linda Gentille. She was spectacular in her show - very talented and enjoyable!

Ports of Call: Good but, way too much time at sea.

Overall: We love both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean but, for children in our age range, Royal Caribbean is a much better fit. While my husband and I really enjoyed the more refined atmosphere Celebrity, we know the next time with the kids along it will be Royal Caribbean or Carnival. Regardless, it was a wonderful experience we're ready to sail the holidays again. I know people gripe how expensive it is to cruise during the holidays but, while others we shopping, cooking and cleaning. I was enjoying warm weather, being waited upon and spending quality time with my family. We will book a holiday cruise again and, I hope to join Cruise Freeks in 2010 on Royal Caribbean from Bayonne for the holidays - just a stone's throw from my back yard!

Sounds like you had a wonderful cruise Kim. I'm envious about being waited on over the holidays. Thanks for the review!

My pleasure, I know we're going to have a great time with the Zoo Crew. We're talking the rest of our family into joining us!

Very nice review. My husband and I also love Celebrity and their service. I agree though that when you have younger children Royal Caribbean and Carnival are the way to go!
