Charlie, just visit your nearest Japanese Restaurant, it's Sake! They also have plum wine which is good. I prefer sake served hot. I love japanese food, but it's even better with sake. Maybe we should have a sake tasting! drunken

Hi Jen, I'm up for that but I was joking & hoping you’d bring the booze. LittleDevil We prefer the superb Sake Tamanohikari from Okayama in Bizen-Omachi. No addatives and can be drunk warm or cold without a hangover thank goodness. HappyHappyJoyJoy

I have the same problem with American Wines versus European Wines. We have friends who brought back a case of wine from Italy and we drank a bottle one night and next morning no headache. Usually I don't drink for just that reason. The additives trigger migraines.

Di, it's probably the sulfides (or is it sulfates?) they use to clean the wine bottles. I get a headache from them too!

OKie Dokie Bears, did you read about the new contest? There will be a door decorating contest on the Zoo Crew cruise. Best door wins $50 Casino credit!

Welcome Home Kathy, You are coming home to a lot of activity in Ocala. The Travolta's flew home today and are having a Memorial Service for Jett so I'm sure the place will be crawling in Paparazzi.

Welcome home Kathy.

What???? No creativity? I don't believe it! I'd love to participate, but I'm already thinking about luggage, packing what would I bring, etc. Might have to do shopping in NY like Diane suggested!

Yes, that's it sulfates/sulfides, whatever.

A door decorating contest cool. I remember the first time we took Tricia on a cruise it was over Christmas. They had caroling, Santa, gifts for the youngters, it really was fun. I think they even had a gingerbread house decorating contest or something along those lines.

Maybe we'll have to have a caroling party instead of a cabin crawl.... singing up and down the corridors! The ship will never be the same!

that's ok Patti........we won't expect you to decorate if you don't want to....I'm sure I'll have enuff for both of us!!!!!!!!!

I loved the year we took the girls and their spouses on the Explorer at cmas...we hung lights on the balcony, taped lights on the window on the promenade cabin and had a tree in each cabin...

I'm going to need to start a notebook to keep track of everything that we're planning!!

No creativity here either... Embarassed

Sheila - I'm gonna e-mail Teresa and see if she can remember the wine they ordered on the first night of the PB cruise....I'm not much of a drinker, but I REALLY liked that one...probably could've drank the whole bottle myself drunken

Sorry about the rain, ice, and cold. We've had our share of cold, but tomorrow could hit 60.

So many contests going on.

Patti - NO WAY (I know you're joking), but doubt we'll be decorating our door either unless Martha can think of something. Like Sheila said, some mean gremlin has stolen my magnets on more than one cruise.

Kathy - Glad you had a great time.

Diane -Veeeeeeeeeeeeeery cute design.

PostSubject: The latest updated news on the OBC situation   Radiance 9-14-07 Polar Bear Express "Special"! - Page 6 Icon_minitimeWed Jan 07, 2009 11:49 pm

This was posted by RoyalCruiser2007.....................I don't know about the rest of you, but with C&A not being able to get cruise credits correct..............I certainly hope they do a better job of keeping "refundable" and "non-refundable" OBC's straight.

Finally an explanation from the head offices

I made quite a few calls today till I finally got answers from the head offices of Royal Caribbean regarding this policy. This is how it works.

What are considered purchased onboard credits? (Refundable)
- Refunds for Shore Excursion purchased pre-cruise that are canceled onboard
- Shop Gifts & Gear (bought by the guest or for the guest by a friend/family/company)
- Royal Caribbean Gift Certificates (bought by the guest or for the guest by a friend/family/company)
- RCCL Visa Reward Points
- Refunds for dining reservation made online at royalcaribbean.com if canceled onboard
- Fuel supplement refunds

Unused purchased onboard credits are refundable at the end of the sailing. The funds can either be retrieved in cash from the purser's desk or will be credited back to the credit card provided at check in.

What are considered promotional onboard credits? (Non-Refundable / Use-or-Lose)
- Next Cruise
- Future Cruise
- Shareholder Benefit
- Onboard credit from a WOW Sale or any other RCCL sales event

Unused promotional onboard credits will not be refunded back to you. You will have to either use them onboard or forfeit the funds at the end of the sailing.

The way it works is that your onboard purchases are first deducted from your "purchased onboard credits" and then when nothing is left there it begins to deduct from your "promotional onboard credits" and then lastly from your credit card or cash account setup at check in.

Example: You have $100 in Visa Rewards onboard credit and $100 in Next Cruise onboard credit. If you only spend $150 onboard, the first $100 will come out of the Visa Rewards onboard credit and the next $50 from you Next Cruise onboard credit. If you don't use that remaining $50 you lose it.

You are still allowed to withdraw cash from the casino BUT you will have to pay the 3% fee which has been in place for a while already. The withdrawal will first be deducted from your "purchased onboard credits" and then when nothing is left there it begins to deduct from your "promotional onboard credits" and then lastly from your credit card or cash account setup at check in.

When you look at it this way, it's really not as bad as first thought. This new policy essentially reinforces the 3% cash withdrawal fee enacted in 2008. Royal Caribbean's goal was to stop people from essentially walking off the ship with large amounts of cash.

My recommendation is to wait till the end of the cruise and see what
you have left and then just visit the casino and withdraw the cash and
pay the 3%. Also, don't prepay your gratuities pre-cruise. Just pay
them onboard so they come out of your onboard credit.
