Predicting 6-12 inches for Chicago starting this afternoon. Looks like the East Coast will be getting our leftovers once again. We already have about 6 inches of snow here.

NDjollymon, Great advice! I am loving this though. We haven't had a white Christmas here in a long time. Barb, stay warm and travel safe. Ours is supposed to start around 7am tomorrow.

I learned to love winter. And for the most part...I still do. The extreme cold here, however...can really send your mind into a tizzy after a while.

Jimmy Buffett sings a song called BOAT DRINKS. It talks of what we call 'cabin fever'. This pretty much sums it up...

Here are the lyrics:

Boat Drinks: by Jimmy Buffett

Boat drinks
Boys in the band ordered boat drinks
Visitors scored on the home rink
Everything seems to be wrong

Lately newspapers mentioned cheap airfare
I gotta fly to St. Somewhere
I'm close to bodily harm

20 degrees and the hockey game's on
Nobody cares, they're way too far gone, screaming

Boat drinks, something to keep 'em all warm

This morning I shot six holes in my freezer
I think I've got cabin fever
Somebody sound the alarm

I'd like to go where the pace of life's slow
Would you beam me somewhere, Mr. Scott

Any old place here on Earth or in space
You pick the century, I'll pick the spot

But I know I should be leaving this climate
I've got a verse but can't rhyme it

I gotta go where it's warm

Boat drinks
Waitress, I need two more boat drinks
Then I'm heading south 'fore my dream shrinks
I gotta go where it's warm [I gotta go where it's]
I gotta go where it's warm [I gotta go where it's]
I gotta go where it's WARM!

I gotta go where there ain't any snow
Where there ain't any blow, 'cause my fins sink so low
I gotta go where it's warm

I don't know if I have ever heard that song, thanx! I too , living here in upstate NY, have grown up with winter. We have a cabin in the Adirondacks where we go to sno-mobile & ski once the Harleys are parked for the season.

p.s. shooting at the fridge might damage the beer!

Well it's a winter wonderland in Chicago this morning. I'm just north of the city so we have snow south of us they have ice. I would rather have snow over ice any day much easier to drive through. They are cancelling flights like crazy at O'Hare and Midway. My husband was called into work at 2:30 am, he works for the street department in one of the neighboring suburbs and is out plowing the streets. Yes, that's right he's the one that leaves all the snow from your street at the end of your driveway.

Heard on the radio our snow has started, well at least it started in NJ so that means it will be starting here (NYC) in about an hour or so...

Batten down the hatches! Very Happy

Though I live in Maryland now (no snow of any amount so far), I grew up in South Florida. Personally, I think Santa Claus looks good in Bermuda shorts.

Yup...living here in upstate (western) NY is always fun in the wintertime!
We lucked out & got out of work early today - and we're off all next week.
ahhhh... I'm currently working on getting those holiday cookies ready for baking. Sure increases the holiday spirit for baking cookies, when there is a ton of snow on the ground!

Stay safe all!
