Here is a map and the itinerary. Tenerife is a very popular vacation spot with some of my British friends. I've pasted the page from the Celebrity UK website. U.S. pricing is definitely less from the prices I've been quoted from the Captain's Club.

WOW! Looks great! I can't believe they get that close to Africa and don't stop there somewhere. Looks like a killer itinerary, and the beaches look nice. I've never been to that area...so of course it looks fun to me!
I've never sailed Celebrity...but I'm hoping to fix that problem next year!

Precede by a Cunard Transatlantic would be even better

Dancing Queen, I'm sure when Cunard releases the rest of its 2010 sailings, there will be one within ten days of this sailing just based on the 2009 itinerary. I only wish time wise that I could string 2 cruises together like that. Pete when you do go on Celebrity Solstice next year, if you have any questions about the ship or the cabins (like biggest balconies per category), I think I can answer them. We sailed it last November and we'll be on the Equinox(sister ship) this fall. I've been on all of the Celebrity and Azamara types of ships, and this category is by far our favorite. I hope some other people will join in on this great itinerary from Celebrity on its newest ship in 2010.

Madeira was one of the most lush islands I have ever seen. The lawns of most homes we saw were covered with banana trees, palms and jacarandi, instead of grass. They prefer wall to wall tropical flora!
Calla lilies and birds of paradise grow wild like weeds there - what an amazing place. It is a huge tourist stop for Europeans, but just too far for Americans to have caught on or bother with - yet.

DQ - GREAT idea about the Transatlantic cruise!! i'll have to see if I can find something when deployment comes out. It's oing to turn into a 3 week vacation! I'm also putting together a pre-cruise package in London.

Kelcie....I saw the Solstice sitting at Port Everglades....looks like a great sized ship to be on! I'm more of a sub-100,000 ton ship lover...but still don't rule out the larger ones. Just a preference of mine. I'm very excited to try Celebrity.
This Canary Island cruise is something I would never even thought about. I didn't even know these cruises exsisted. I thought they were just cruise stops for Transatlantic trips.
The more I look at it...the more I like it. I think the pictures did that! (of course...I'm still in Post Cruise Depression here) Thanks for throwing more fuel on my burning dreams kk! I keep watering that money tree...only the sun doesn't come out much up here!

definitely those pics helped a lot and isn't post-cruise depression terrible? i know as soon as i got home i booked another one. the only thing that prevented me from booking on the cruise was the fact that since rccl did away with their shareholder perks in addition to o.b.c. from a future cruise credit that it served me no purpose to book on board.

Pete and Pat, I never thought I would like a ship with 2850 passengers, but we loved the Solstice. There were plenty of reading places, numerous bars, and never had to wait to get a lounger at the pool. The solarium was great and very relaxing. I thought the passenger flow was some of the best, and I've been on plenty of ships with only 700 passengers. The disembarkation was the fastest of any cruise I've been on, embarkation, a little slower because of everyone stopping to take their photos. I think the itinerary is great, as I love sun, the sea(both above and underwater), as well as seeing mountains on some of the islands. In May the temperatures should be 75-80 for the high, and the scenery is beautiful. I'm actually going to cancel another Celebrity 2010 booking to do this itinerary. When ya'll go on the Solstice, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by all of the public spaces. Have a great Monday, Kelcie

well....the only thing holding me back is about 3700 pounds plus airfare!
It's winter...and the money tree is kinda dormant right now. I'll keep watering it though! I never give up!

Pete, I think the U.S. pricing is more reasonable than the UK pricing. I checked airfare today if the trip was this May instead of next May and from Dallas on a direct flight to London including taxes was $617 a person. I agree it is more of an expensive trip than the Caribbean, but the ports will be great, not to mention the company of our fellow cruise freeks! I'm sure Candy will put together a great trip for everyone. Maybe we'll all hit the lottery before next year. I know I'll keep playing with our office pool. Have a good afternoon, kelcie

the biggest celebrity i have been on is the millenium and the infinity. their solarium was superb so if this is an improvement on it - i didn't think it could get better. i totally enjoyed my experiences on celebrity it's just that they have usually been pricier than the other lines so i haven't really done them much.

Also for those interested, Candy is going to put together a pre-cruise package in London which should be a lot of fun!

Sorry Guys, I keep trying to embed a you tube video on the Solstice which should give everyone an idea of what the Eclipse will look like. I'll try it again later.

Pat, would it help if I held your hand for the flight? And I saw a post somewhere that we might try to schedule a transatlantic in conjunction so you might be able to cruise over opposed to flying. Besides, England is a much shorter flight than Italy.
