Ice jam just backed up the water in Crookston, MN nearby. Whole city being evacuated now.

Slight water in my basement overnight...caused by torrential rains hitting frozen ground. (flash flood)

Blizzard will hit tonight....just keeps getting better! It beats a hurricane I guess....

Pete, stay safe and out of the elements if possible! Are you part of the team helping overseeing the flood control? I can't imagine how they are going to rescue people where the flooding is except by boat or helicopter. I hope the horrendous weather is out of there by tomorrow.

Ouch! You take care, and I hope you don't get too much damage. Isn't North Dakota fun? We're just getting a ton of rain today and tonight, and the ground has pretty much thawed.

Yes, I have been there, but not for long at any one time. Played concerts there with SAC HQ Band, USAF Academy Band and USAF Band, D.C.

Thanks. We've been down this road before...but it's always an uneasy feeling.
We're in high gear fighting Mother Nature. It's just a month earlier than the snow usually melts...and it's creating havoc.

Pete, you always have place in Staten Island to call home but, I hope it never comes to that but, the offer is always here.

Good grief, Pete! Hope everything is okay! I've got a fully furnished townhouse on Long Island if you ever need a place... My hubby, the twins and I stay at my mom's house. Even last minute, you can feel free to use it whenever you want.

I'm hoping the mighty river doesn't sweep me away. Twelve years ago, that river came into my house and upset my life and finances forever. It's crazy how a natural event can have such long lasting scars. This brings back some bad memories....

Our prayers are with you that it doesn't happend this time. If when this is all over you need a place to thaw out, I don't have an entire house to offer you, but we have a spare room and lovely Pheonix weather!

Here is a picture I took on the way home from work the other day. It's an ND farm field, with houses in the background...completely surrounded by floodwater.

To THIS! This is the path I had to shovel to get my dog outside this morning. It's still snowing too....

now it's snowing? so what does that do to the river and flooding? and on a different note, what did the pup think of the snow or is he used to it already?

Pup loves the snow!
The river will rise a little higher because of the snow...but it won't start melting until at least Sunday.

I think I may cancel my weekend plan to go see family. Some of the interstates are closed...and 2 of our 3 city bridges are closed leading to MN. I may be stuck here anyway....
