| Very cute idea. It would be a nice thing to give to all of the groups when they get onboard (or when they depart, if more than one location hit during a cruise). | |

| Just thought of something else - could use Cafe Press so that pins could be designed and order 1 at a time thus avoiding the production cost issue and the storage and distribution issues, and people could buy their own, as well as ordering larger numbers for group cruises and distributing on board. They'll be more like the political type buttons, though, and not as good for pinning on hats or lanyards. On the other hand, you could also order a coffee cup or tee shirt! |

| Here is what I have so far for rough ideas. Please, give your input. Now as for crossing the equator, international date line, etc we have three choices use color stones to attach to the cruise that you completed the crossing on, have a seperate pin altogether, or use the US Navies system which issues a really cute certificate and a wallet card.
Remember, I am trying to keep the artistry on these simple by keeping the icons simple. Color and style can be discussed later.
New England/ Canada ............................Lobster? Lighthouse?
Caribbean ............................................Jolly Roger Flag
South American ....................................Toucan
Antartica .............................................Penguin [please keep this one]
Mediterranean ......................................Gondala? Colosseum?
Baltic ..................................................Bear
British Isles...........................................Big Ben
Transantlantic Crossing...........................Steamer Trunk
Middle East ..........................................Camel? Genie Lamp?
Far East ..............................................Dragon
Australia/N.Z. .......................................Kangaroo? Koala Bear?
Alaska/Arctic.........................................Polar Bear {please keep this one}
Hawaii .................................................Pineapple
World Cruise .........................................Globe

| Pete, why do you want to keep a polar bear for Alaska ?. It doesn't seem representative. If it has to be an animal a black bear is more appropriate. A polar bear would be for cruising the North West Passage perhaps ? | |

| I love this idea ... it helps connect this group of freeks (I mean people) and lets us showcase where we have been. The themes are great Pete ... definitely the penguin for Antartica and a lighthouse for Canada. I don't see a palm tree anywhere ... perhaps use this instead for the Caribbean. I'm not sure if this has been suggested, but it would be nice to have some Cruise Freeks identification put on the pin ... even if it is just the initials. I can see them getting alot of attention from other cruisers. It would be a privelege to wear them. This is why this site and group are great!! |

| Maybe a Kodiak Bear for Alaska? There are Polar Bears in Alaska, however. Hey...what about River Cruises????? Let's not forget about these! | |

| Maybe one of the Rhine castles? The ones that look like the Cinderella Castle at Disney...
Of course you'd need something different for the Yangtze
Could use a paddlewheel boat for the US ones |

| The Alaska also incudes all Arctic region cruises as well. That is why I chose a symbol which is associated with polar regions. I am taking a Norway cruise and will soon be wearing my Polar Bear proudly.
I thought we could do river cruises later while we concentrate getting things in motion. I already had some ideas such as mosquito/Amazon; maple leaf/ST Lawrence; sphinx/Nile; Castle/Rhine, Paddlewheel boat /American Rivers.
Please, vote on the question mark ones.
I also put the Jolly Roger for the Caribbean as a starter hoping others will submit other ideas. I've heard Sail fish
Another issue I am hoping to resolve is how we are going to do the line crossings. I was thinking mermaid for Equator, Sea Serpeant for the International Date Line. The polar circles could either be seals colored blue and red {traditional Arctic and Antarctic colors} or we could put a color coded fish in the icons mouth.
I really, really wanted to use some symbols that just didnt work out. I love palm trees but there so universal its hard to associate them with one particular area.
Yes, about having a Cruise Freeks logo. I like the CF initials idea.. good thinking!
Remember, this is the end product of CF members collaborative thinking so keep the ideas coming.

| Lighthouse wins for New England I like the Horn idea. Equator is Neptune Canals are great I would then keep the Genie lamp over the Camel for the Middle East because you have an Egyptian item for the Suez I still need input for Europe and Australia I chose a Gondola because its nautical and Italy is close to the center historically and geographically In a sense we are voting now but if anyone wants to start a voting thread that would be great. (far beyond what I can do on a computer). Lastly, there are two standards we need to lay down. What length for a Caribbean should qualify 3,5,7 day? The Transantlantic Crossing should you have to complete both an East and West bound? Also, should it be just the traditional NYC to Southhampton route? PS. I am also a writer so when this is over you can come up with plot ideas for me. Great Job | |

| 5 days for a Caribbean , One way for transatlantic. Could be any two ports. For the baltic cruise how about the Mermaid statue. For Australia I would go with the Kangaroo | |

For Australia I would go with the Kangaroo I think a mermaid would freeze to death in the Baltic. We could use those Eastern Orthodox style buildings? Definately, a Kangaroo for Australia

| Your right the Argos sailed the Baltic to get the Golden Fleece ,so a mermaid could work. What do you think about Italy, the Gondola? I also gave our St Lawrence the Maple Leaf I thought you would appreciate that one. | |
