Continental Flight Down in Clarence , NY

A Continental Prop commuter plane has crashed into a house in Clarence center,NY. All 48 people onboard were killed. It was about 8-10 miles away from the Buffalo airport. It had originated in Newark,NJ. One of the people onboard was a widow of 911. How awful, very tragic.

Forty-nine people aboard a Continental commuter plane are reportedly dead after
the 50-passenger aircraft crashed into a suburban home in upstate New York, the Buffalo News said in a story posted on its Web site.New York State Trooper John Manthey told the Associated Press that the plane hit a house in Clarence around 10:10 p.m. Thursday. Manthey
says the plane may have been headed to Buffalo Niagara International Airport. He says authorities have called the Federal Aviation Administration.The Buffalo News reported, citing "unconfirmed reports'' from a source at the airport, said that the dead included 44
passengers, four crew members and a person on the ground. The newspaper said County Executive Chris Collins said that there may have been as many as 50 people aboard the plane and crew members had reported mechanical problems as they approached the airport. Several injured people were taken from the scene to Erie County Medical Center for treatment, the newspaper said

Makes you think about the Hudson crash. The Niagara river would be much more dangerous to attempt though. I wonder if they have any sort of booms across the river upstram to prevent bosts/people from going over the falls ?

Tony, I live here in NY, about 70 miles from Buffalo. I have been to Niagara Falls many times, and there is no boom of any kind to save people jumping in the river. In fact, if you go over the falls, and actually live to tell about it, you are then fined for your stupidity.

So sad about the crash. my prayers are with all the families.


We were up in Niagara Falls over the weekend - didn't happen to notice anything like that in the river.
