| Hi--I've been a "lurker" on this board for a while--1st time I'm writing in. We've tried 4 different lines--ready to try Celebrity. We're interested in Panama Canal 14 night--just am not sure which one to try, Infinity or Mercury. Any info comparing the 2 would be appreciated. Thanks in advance... | |

| i did not do the trip you are describing, however, i have done celebrity a few times. i like celebrity a lot. their food is great, the ships are elegant but not 'cunardish'. now my friends carol and gene are on a 28 day in november on holland america doing the panama canal on the statendam and i know it does a 14 day where you can catch it in ft. lauderdale and exit san diego (or one of the california ports i just didn't look it up or catch it in california and exit in ft. lauderdale on the 2nd half of the trip). they did the panama canal on both lines and are going back for the 28 day on holland america. but they are big fans of celebrity too so i just think celebrity wasn't offering a 28 day trip or they would have gone that way. |

| Hi Pamela--another "upstate" New Yorker!!! I'm in E. Irondequoit. Where are you located in this fine, frigid city of ours? My family and I just got back in Nov.from Princess repo cruise to San Juan. Now my girlfriend wants to go somewhere-anywhere it's warm. The deals are just too good. TY for replying . Hopefully, we'll catch each other on-line sometime...Darlene | |

| Darlene, I'm in Henrietta, right near the Dome and our new Wegman's!
I hear you about the deals - they are just fantastic!
Only my vacation time 'accrues' ..so, have to let it add up awhile. We just got back 12/6/08 from week long on NCL to E. Caribbean. Love looking at those photos while sitting here freezin! Actually, felt like a heat wave today! | |

| I know what you mean. I've got the time--I just don't know if I want to go back to the Carib. for a week (those are so cheap), or just wait for prices to come down, hopefully, for the Panama Canal Ft. Laud. to San Diego. I'm driving my daughter nuts talking about cruising. | |

| Hello, I have done the Panama Canal Crossing on the GTS Summit, which is the sister ship of the Infinity. Both are very nice ships. They look a little like Lego blocks on the outside, but inside is very nice. I have also lived on the Mercury for 6 months. If you are planning a trip to Panama I would recommend the Infinity, just because it is newer than the Mercury. The Panama Canal trip is a long one, with many sea days. On Celebrity Cruises you will find that most guests are 50+, and on the canal trip maybe 60+ is a good average age. Hey check out my blog! It's all about working on the cruise ships in the casino department. http://travellingscott.blogspot.com | |
