400 SE 2nd Ave, Miami

We are here for a travel conference checking in Nov 14 and we'll be checking out Nov 17.

We have a king bed nonsmoking room on the 12th floor (the hotel has a total of 22 floors). Our room overlooks the river and several other tall buildings in the area. But honestly, we aren't here for the view. Wink The room is very clean and nicely appointed with a desk that has a chair on either side of it, so my husband and I could both use the desk at the same time. The desk top has enough room for both of our laptops and other "stuff." The lobby and other public areas of the hotel are very nice and well decorated as well.

They put two Aquafina water bottles in the room (1 liter sized) that we can purchase for $6.50 EACH. We opted to walk to the CVS pharmacy (about 2 blocks away) and bought our own bottles for $1.59 each. Smile

This hotel is connected to the Miami Convention Center, so obviously this is a very convenient place to stay when attending conventions at the center.

One annoying thing is the sometimes LOUD airport traffic overhead, but so far it hasn't been a problem.

The hotel has some restaurant options, but they are rather pricey ($31 for a pasta entree, $38 for a ribeye steak). Our first day here we walked about 3 blocks to Pizza Hut for lunch, and then that night we walked across the street to the Courtyard by Marriott and ate in their restaurant (Penne Pasta Alfredo with Chicken for $14). On our second night we walked about 3-4 blocks to Habibi Mediterranean Grill and had a very good dinner of kabobs (me = beef, hubby = lamb). Our total tab with tip was about $30. Also within walking distance is Subway, Quiznos, Starbuck, a couple of Sushi places, a crepes restaurant (Sidewalk Cafe), Pollo Tropical, and a couple of Brazillian restaurants.

Susan,
How do the prices compare for this hotel to others in the area? We've stayed at several South Beach hotels but nothing close to the convention center. Hope you enjoy your conference,

for Thursday night we could not get the convention rate, and we paid $199 plus tax for that night.

Susan, would you stay here again? Thinking ahead a bit to the Crystal Holiday cruise for 2011.
