PostSubject: San Diego-Catalina-Ensenada   San Diego-Catalina-Ensenada Icon_minitimeMon Aug 13, 2007 4:08 pm

I've been to Ensenada several times, but have never been to Catalina. I grew up in and around San Diego but haven't been there in several years.

We're taking the Monarch of the Seas 4 night cruise October 1st and I'd like to get suggestions so we don't miss anything great.

This is my hubby's very first cruise! We were booked on the Vision's 7 night Mexican Rivera but circumstances led to changing it to this cruise instead.

I'd like to make this a special vacation and hope he will want to take more cruises in the future.

TIA!

Hey Pat....

Did you ask the ladies on our 6/21/09 thread? Several of them have been to Catalina A LOT!

I haven't been there in many many years... but there are some great tours. Or you could rent one of the little carts and drive around. Check with Critterchick & Dirtgirl - they are specialists!

We did a tour offered thru the ship when in Catalina. If I had it to do over I would have rented MO-Peds and toured the island on my own. If Mo-Peds aren't your thing just get off the ship and look for guys offering tours. There are a few interesting things to see. I was raised in So California, went to San Diego State and yet, never visited Catalina til we did a 4 day cruise on RCI about 7 years ago.

If you haven't done the wine tour in Ensanada it is a great way to see the area, taste some fair wine and buy some at a really good price. It was a great tour for the money. elephant rendeer Basketball

I bought 2 Old Town Trolley passes today for San Diego (online discount) so we can just hop on and off and see all the sights. I love Old Town (great food, shopping and margis!!) so that takes care of SD.

NMM, thanks for the ideas. I'm afraid I'd hurt myself or someone else on a moped. Laughing Golf carts are my speed but couldn't find any 2-person carts for rent online. Maybe when I get there. Or, we'll just walk around and see what tours are available at the time like you suggested.

I went to the blow hole tour years ago in Ensenada and the merchants were so agressive I finally told one guy that if he didn't leave me alone I wouldn't come in his store. May have to look into the wine tour. DH might like that.

Pat - there is also a cooking tour offered in Ensenada that I have heard good things about. We are going to do one or the other on our April cruise. Think I will let DH pick. Smile
