Oystercard questions Empty
PostSubject: Oystercard questions   Oystercard questions Icon_minitimeMon Sep 22, 2008 8:22 pm

Thought I'd ask my UK friends about this ...

I'll be in London in 2 weeks, and thinking of getting an Oystercard for my travels around town. Just wondering what the difference is between the blue card, and a vistor Oystercard.
The website gives info on how to purchase one, but it's pretty vague.
(Maybe I'm not looking in the right area ?? confused )
Also, why the distinction between the two parties? ... resident and visitor?
Everyone knows that it's easy to get a MetroCard in NY. Just put money in the machine, and hop on your train. No asking if you're a local, or passing thru town.

I've been scratchin my head over this for the longest time, and hope someone could enlighten me.

scratch Wink

Thanks Smile

Generally speaking the Oyster card is going to save you money. Visitor cards are adult only fares and cannot be loaded with 7 day Travelcards. Those are the only main differences but, you might want to check directly in case I've forgotten to include anything.

Hi Todd,

I just talked to Vic, he's at JFK waiting to board. :flying: He wanted me to let you know that he and another Cunard friend are meeting at the Hilton London Olympia hotel tomorrow night at 7pm if you'd like to join them.

Betsy
