| I thought it might be fun to start a trivia thread to get us in gear for the Fourth of July cruise, not to mention prepare us for pub team trivia in the Golden Lion First question.... Where is TriBeCa and what does its name come from? Whoever answers correctly gets to ask the next question. | |

| Fun idea! Does it matter that I'm a New Yorker? Well, regardless, TRIBECA is an acronym for Triangle Below Canal. The location is roughly Greenwich St to West Broadway on the lower West Side. |

| Sorry! What New York City Art Deco buidling has six levels of stainless steel arches topped by a lit lancet spire on its top Hint: it's one of the following four buildings: Seagram Building, Chrysler Building, Empire State Building or Woolworth Building |

| OK not being from New York I googled New York trivia and here's what I came up with. This one's for the shoppers. Where did the red star that is Macy's logo come from? |

| Now that IS trivia! I believe the correct answer is that the red star represents a tatoo Mr. Macy got in his youth while working on a fishing boat. |

| Correct! I thought it was a pretty strange origin for the red star. OK you get to post the next question. |

| Hate to see this thread end...I want to learn! I'm going to step in and continue the thread if you don't mind.
(yea...I had to research my question!)
The owners of which building in the early 1930s refused to sell their lease to John D. Rockefeller, forcing the multimillionaire to redesign his original plans for Rockefeller Center?

| Hey, thanks for bringing this thread back! I had forgotten all about it.....
No idea on the answer though.... I will guess Macy's which I am sure is wrong but I can't think of anything else big enough.

| I Googled it...so I'm not going to answer. I figured a good way for me to learn NYC is to just research trivia. That being said...I didn't know about the Deli, or it's cultural fame and popularity. Looks like a great place to stop for some food! I always hear a lot about NY style Pizza. That's one thing I'd like to search down while there...just to try it. | |

| Pete, Carnegie Deli is almost a MUST DO! The food is good and it's the history of the place that makes it even more special and a favorite among celebrities, you never know who you're going to spot. Pizza - outside of Italy, no pizza comes close to NY Pizza (sorry Chicago residents). One of the best is Rays - which also come with a lot of controversy and stories - there are a lot of Ray's Pizzas out there but, I personally recommend: https://rayspizza.rapidorders.com/default.php |

| Ah the great bread of life - pizza. Dating back to 997 AD with modern pizza as we know it today originating in Naples. When you all come to Italy, we'll go out for real pizza | |
